Div 26!! We were just talking about this today in Health & Career!!! This video is from an amazing site called Being 12, which is a project being done in New York schools, interviewing 12 year olds (just like you!). Watch the video - we can talk about it in class next week, or you can leave a comment. Mrs. Brothers :) P.S. Okay 2015 Div 26 - you really really need to watch and comment on this Upworthy-recommended video. The trick is - can I get it to post?
The Hastings ALLY Club did a "positive Spam" activity last week, writing encouraging, happy thoughts on colourful Post-its and sticking them on the walls throughout the school. They thought it was important to remind everyone of all the good in the world. Things to think about:
I know, I know. It's been ages since I put anything on the blog. And now I'm ready to get back to this, so I'm celebrating today by posting a video from one of my favourite, up-beat people - Kid President! Those of you who've gone through the archives know that KP has been featured here before. He is a wonderful, inspiring young man with an infectious smile and a phenomenal attitude. I don't usually post "advertising" - but in this case, I think it's ok. I want his book. You might want it too! When I saw this video on Facebook today, it was tagged "this amazing three-minute video will make you cry".
It didn't make me cry. But it is incredibly heartwarming (as the YouTube title says), and it made me smile, and think. What could I do each day to be more like the man in the video? Thoughts, Division 26?? Teamwork. Trust. Together. Amazing what you can all accomplish when you work together and believe in each other. :)
Today we watched some pretty funny grammar videos in class. No, don't doubt your eyes - you really read that sentence! And they *were* funny.....and actually taught us something too! I thought I'd share a couple of them here, so that you could find them again. And bonus points to you if you can use any of the four adjectives (supercilious, preposterous, precocious, cantankerous) correctly in a comment! (many thanks to Mrs. Burkett for introducing me to TingoEd Vocab Videos!) We're on our way to the Vancouver Art Gallery this week, to see the exhibit of works by renowned Haida Artist Charles Edenshaw. I'm very excited about this trip, and we'll definitely post some reactions to his work (we're not allowed to take photographs in the art gallery).
Here's a link to a website provided by the Vancouver Art Gallery, with lots of fantastic information about Charles Edenshaw, as well as photos of his work. Enjoy! http://projects.vanartgallery.bc.ca/edenshaw/ One of my favourite video contributers, as you all know, is Kid President. Here's one of his posts from September, but I thought it really applied to now. Enjoy! (and feel free to comment too). Merry Christmas Grade Sevens! I meant to post this earlier in the month when I first saw it, but I was caught up in report card/marking craziness and forgot all about it. I still think you'll enjoy it, even though it's after the big day. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas break - looking forward to seeing you all after another week of fun and rest! Mrs. Brothers :) |
