What do you do to cope with anger and frustration? Do you have healthy methods, or not-so-healthy coping methods?
- Sometimes just talking to someone else (or "venting") can help you feel better about a situation that has made you angry or frustrated.
- Maybe getting physically active works for you - do you take a walk, or go for a run, or do a workout of some sort to "burn off some steam"? Or maybe a calming activity like yoga helps you to combat anger or frustration.
- What about listening to your favourite music?
- Not that I would suggest this as the solution EVERY time, but maybe eating a yummy treat will distract you and give you time to calm down.
- Have you tried meditation or deep breathing exercises? Or writing about your frustrations or anger in a journal or notebook?
- Maybe participating in a favourite activity, such as singing, shopping, playing video games, or reading will help you cope with anger.
Let me know in the comment section, Grade 7s - what are the coping strategies that work best for you when faced with anger or frustration?
(And just so you know....I already feel a bit better, just writing this post! And listening to my favourite musical Les Miserables, while drinking tea, eating homemade chocolate chip cookies, and marking your Mythology assignments - the things that make me smile!)
