It didn't make me cry. But it is incredibly heartwarming (as the YouTube title says), and it made me smile, and think. What could I do each day to be more like the man in the video?
Thoughts, Division 26??
When I saw this video on Facebook today, it was tagged "this amazing three-minute video will make you cry".

One of my favourite video contributers, as you all know, is Kid President. Here's one of his posts from September, but I thought it really applied to now. Enjoy! (and feel free to comment too). Thanks Kid President - you always give me a great video to post! Grade 7s......other than #5 (which is hilarious, but you can't pick it), which of Kid President's list do you think is most important? And as he says, what would you add to the list? Let me know in your comments! Have a great weekend :) Mrs. Brothers I have a lot of respect for Remembrance Day - I had a grandfather and great-grandfather who fought as soldiers in WWII and WWI, respectively. I think it's important that our government, on behalf of its citizens, take care of the veterans of these wars, as well as veterans of other wars. The news that instead, our government is making it more difficult for WWII veterans to receive services, is terrible, and so disrespectful. Watch this rant (above) by the well-known Canadian journalist, Rick Mercer. He's known for having a strong opinion and expressing it rather bluntly (hence, a rant). What do you think of his position on this topic? Is he right? What should "regular" Canadians be doing about this move by the Canadian Government? And here's another rant by Rick, from just a week before Remembrance Day. What is our Canadian government doing to our veterans? What can we do?
Welcome to my 2013-14 Grade 7s! Here's your first video clip to comment on this fall. We watched it in class today, and I'm hoping it made an impression. Watch it again, and tell me what you think (extra points if you give me details, examples, reasons why, etc.).
Some days, this is how I feel. How about you? What do you do to cope with anger and frustration? Do you have healthy methods, or not-so-healthy coping methods?
Let me know in the comment section, Grade 7s - what are the coping strategies that work best for you when faced with anger or frustration? (And just so you know....I already feel a bit better, just writing this post! And listening to my favourite musical Les Miserables, while drinking tea, eating homemade chocolate chip cookies, and marking your Mythology assignments - the things that make me smile!) We will be participating in the Remembrance Day assembly at school today. Our class is presenting the "Poppy Wreath Ceremony", where a representative from every class in the school will bring up a poppy made in their class, to be added onto our communal wreath. This creates a beautiful wreath that helps our whole school to recognize and honour the memory of all the Canadian veterans who have sacrificed their lives and health to promote peace in our world today. We've been reading about some of the events of World War I and II this week, and will continue to discuss them and view some videos next week. Grade Sevens: This week's response is connected to Remembrance Day. Make a comment below, responding to one of these questions or sharing your own thoughts or opinions about what we've been discussing.
Are you ready, Grade Sevens? Here's your first job - find this post. Write a comment - something about your Hallowe'en experience or thoughts as you near the end of your "trick-or-treating" days. Do you think Grade 7 is too old to trick-or-treat? Have you ever been asked for a "trick" before being given a treat? What's the best costume you've ever had? Are you an "eat all the candy in a few days" person, or do you save it and ration it out over several weeks or months? |
